whatcha doing here son?
are ya looking for a job?
or,are ya hunting victims,
that you're setting up to rob?
but it doesn't really matter,
you just better move along,
this here town is not for you
because you never could belong!
well,i guess i'd better go
because i'm bringing these folks down
as they live their lives in misery
i live mine without a frown
while their lives are all tied up
i live mine free as a bird
their possessions weigh them down
i travel light as a word
so i guess i'll pack my duffle
cos it's time to hit the road
one more time i'll play the okie
who was known as old tom joad
time to get a move on
time again to hit the road
tossed from another campsite,Lord
i feel like old tom joad
you'd better get your butt up boy!
you can't sleep on this here land
you just better keep on movin'
keep them feet there slappin' sand
we ain't knowing where ya come from
we ain't carin' where ya go
you just better keep on movin'
you ain't welcome here! ya know?
so i truck on down the highway
as i hum along some blues
and i never do look back after
i've dusted off my shoes
as i'm walking,i am praying
hope those people get it right
cos it's warm here in the sunshine!
man,the light of God's so bright!!
so i guess i'll pack my duffle
cos it's time to hit the road
one more time i'll play the okie
who was known as old tom joad
time to get a move on
time again to hit the road
tossed from another campsite,Lord
i feel like old tom joad
